Massive Growth

Technology is advancing at an exponential rate that has really never been seen before. This extends from everything from scientific advancements to the gadgets that we use in everyday life.

I personally view the transition of phone systems from POTS to VoIP the same way that we’ve seen the inevitable transition of VHS to DVD. Eventually, over time DVD became the standard, and VHS was not only outdated but mostly unusable or at least inefficient. This was due to the enormous amount of benefits, features, and products associated with using DVDs.

When it comes to VoIP, the numbers don’t lie either. In Q1 of of 2017 alone, the UCaaS (Unified Communications as a Service) market revenue grew by $22% year over year. On-premise enterprise voice market declined by 9% during the same period.

Ring Central

I think that we are in the beginning of a wave of transitioning to cloud based services as a standard, phone systems included. I believe (in my humble opinion) that within the next 5-10 years, VoIP will be the new “normal” for all business phone systems. With market leaders like RingCentral pushing the envelope with features, integrations, and scalability, the sky isn’t even the limit when it comes to the capabilities of these type of systems.

These transitions in technology inevitably open up new opportunities for earning money. With this particular sector, there is also massive growth of the channel sales divisions of this market. Many individuals and businesses are jumping on this fast moving train by joining reseller programs for companies like RingCentral. More and more companies are ditching the old models in order to embrace a new playing field where direct sales agents and channel partners can work together in order to generate residual income (ie. RingCentral’s Channel Harmony program).

It’s an exciting time to be involved in a tech industry like UCaaS, whether you have a list of clients that you work with closely, or are sales oriented and are constantly looking to generate business.
